Video 4: First visit to my neurologist

First visit to a neurologist at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital (now Presbyterian New York Hospital). My journey continues as I first hear the real and actual diagnosis of Pseudotumor Cerebri (also known as Benign Intracranial Hypertension or/and Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension). It becomes real!

Please be aware that during this video I discuss a lumbar puncture/spinal tap procedure (not in detail).

Video 3: First neuro-ophthalmologist Visit

This is my third video on this journey and life with Pseudotumor Cerebri. During this video I describe my first visit to the doctor who is to become the center and crucial neuro-ophthalmologist at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital (now known as Presbyterian New York Hospital) for over twenty years of my life. Now retired, I owe him much!

Video 2: First Ophthalmologist Visit

This is the second video, introducing my journey into the diagnosis, treatment, and living with Pseudotumor Cerebri. In this video I describe an eye check-up appointment to the ophthalmologist that recognized the initial signs and symptoms; he is the one who led me to seek diagnosis, treatment, and ultimately, help in 1992.

Video 1: Introduction

My mission for this website is sharing my story to aid anyone going through similar issues, situations, symptoms, and/or the difficulties that I have encountered since I was first diagnosed on Monday, October 12th, 1992.

For that purpose, I will, as I am able, be posting short autobiographical videos that discuss my trials and tribulations with PTC from its inception. Below you will find the first, initial one.

Additional information, resources, links, and suggestions will also be offered as the website grows to my desired layout. Take what you find useful and leave the rest. I am simply grateful that you considered it!

Please understand the following:

  • I am disabled and unable to create, upload, update this website regularly. I will do as I am able. In other words, my stamina is quite limited;
  • I lack the professional knowledge, training, & ability to talk in front of a camera. This is an amateur job at best;
  • English is my second language. I was born and raised in the Canary Islands of Spain. As you will probably notice when you view my videos, I can communicate in English but will make mistakes, especially as I tire out;
  • Please do note: I do not see out of my left eye. This is due to Pseudotumor Cerebri (PTC); another story, for another video. Therefore, you might see my left eye wander. I will try to minimize it but there is little I can do. Thank you for your understanding; and
  • Lastly, I am driven to build this website by my mission to help others in their path. I am hopeful that this can provide not only solace and support, but solid information and resources.

Thank you!
